Gardening before the rain

Today wasn't very cold but it was threatening rain. We went outside to do some gardening anyway.

Inspecting the garden.

Walking in the wheat. My dad planted this wheat because he's never seen wheat before. I don't think my dad has a plan for his wheat. You can see I'm carrying a spade-full of dirt from one spot in the garden to another. I've noticed that my dad moves dirt around the garden a lot. Apparently that's what you do.

I think these flowers need water before it rains.

Top photo: Farmer Elliott carefully examines the condition of the soil in the back-40. "Yep,", he thinks, "soil looks good this year for wheat. Time's wastin'. Gotta get seed in the ground."
