A tour of the garden

My dad and I check the garden every night when he gets home. Tonight we took pictures. My dad complains about the state of the garden. I guess that's part of the fun.

Oats!

The wheat has stopped getting taller, but now the seeds are getting bigger and bigger.

It's coming right along.

My dad's hops are the envy of the neighborhood. Well, at least he thinks so. Sometimes there are ladybugs on the hops.

My dad was going to skip the lettuce but I insisted. We have gotten lots of salad out of there. I like to help pick it but I don't like to help eat it.

Garlic.

Here is our barley. Looks like tall grass.

Yay barley!

This is our coral bark Japanese maple named Ichiro. My dad told me to look up and smile so I did!

Snap peas. You can see I'm wearing my new monkey sandals. There will be more pictures of those as summer comes along.

That's a fine garden you and your dad are growing! I can almost smell the fresh bread, oatmeal and barley soup. OK at least I'll have some delicious salads when I come out and maybe garlic bread. Your smile with Ichiro reminds me of Uncle Bob and his famous plastic smile, which Uncle Paul also inherited. Can't wait to see you!!

Wow, that is way cool to be growing your own oats, wheat, and barley. That's a little science/agriculture experiment right there in your own yard.

That top pic in this batch is maybe my favorite going quite a way back. That orange cap really makes it. Tom Sawyer, move over. Super pic!
