After the morning trek to the hospital, my folks got back home and encountered a fun surprise - a package from Grandma Barb's good friend Sue. The package contained presents and a card with a poem.
Wow, cool stuff!
And a very nice poem in the card, just for me.
Dear Elliott Lewis - Welcome to the World!
You're just a wee lad who's not seen the sights
You've just left the darkness to see the bright lights
It must be confusing when one is first born
So many changes - night versus morn.
Hunger and thirst and pleasure and pain
all new sensations, again and again
Some of them pleasant and some of them not
But the world can be lovely - you're in a good spot!
Mummy and Daddy are always on hand
And grandparents, uncles, friends, family - just grand!
So keep your eyes on the peaks and the far-reaching sea
And on those that you love, wherever you be.
